Dogenes Inc. offers long term storage of DNA for breed clubs and individuals. The DNA banks developed at Dogenes are meant to provide a resource of DNA from purebred dogs so that these materials will be available for future research on genetic disorders. Owners of both non-clinical animals ( those animals that have not been diagnosed with a genetic disease) and clinical animals (those that have been diagnosed with a genetic disease), are encouraged to participate in DNA banking.

At present DNA banks have been established for several breeds, however individuals with purebred dogs from other breeds can also submit samples for future research.

Samples are collected on cheek swabs by a simple noninvasive method so that participation is easy. Kits for collection of DNA samples can be ordered directly on-line.
